Canada

A Tauck bus tour, plus a cross country self-guided train tour plus a ferry tour of southern Alaska. The bus tour was 12 days that took us through the Maritime Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. We played golf on Cape Breton Island. Prince Edward Island was idyllic as was the setting for the famous “House of Green Gables”. One of the more interesting places we visited on the tour was the Bay of Fundy where they have the world’s highest tides, around 50 feet twice a day.

After the luxury of four-star hotels and restaurants, we embarked our own tour of traveling across Canada via train and then by ferry up the Inland Passage to Juneau, the Capital of Alaska.

We took the overnight train with our own sleeping compartment from Hallifax, Nova Scotia to Montreal where we stayed for two days. From there we took a day train to Ottawa, the Capital of Canada, where we spent two days visiting, among other things, the Parliament with its magnificent library. Another day train took us to Toronto where we spent three days sightseeing. Toronto is on the northwest shore of Lake Erie.
